Our Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Process

Ultrasonic record cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves to create microscopic cavitation bubbles in a cleaning bath. These bubbles collapse inside the groove, removing particles and residue without touching the vinyl surface.

We operate high-precision ultrasonic machines using:

• 3.5 litres of distilled water
  
• 30ml proprietary surfactant
  
• Non-ionic alcohol (a fatty alcohol that reduces surface tension and prevents foaming)
  
  

This method is adopted across critical industries—medical instrument sterilisation, semiconductor cleaning, and jewellery restoration—for its ability to clean non-destructively and with high accuracy.

Record cleaning at The Groove Man is performed under controlled, repeatable conditions:

2. Placement in ultrasonic machine for a 6–7 minute cleaning cycle
   
3. Contactless drying in a dust-free environment
   
4. Insertion into fresh inner and outer sleeves (included with every clean)

Record cleaning is charged at $4 AUD per disc, including both a new anti-static inner sleeve and a new protective outer jacket.

We operate by appointment only, due to the time required per cycle and our high-throughput workflow. Multiple records can be scheduled for bulk cleaning sessions.
